#CGCradio Episode 012 with Special Guest Glenn Greenwald, American Investigative Journalist, Author and Gatekeeper of Edward Snowden's NSA Information. Greenwald had interviewed Snowden intensively over several days. His publications are among the most important and far-reaching political exposés of modern times.
"I am pleased that the CeBIT Global Conferences are focusing so strongly on data security and privacy in the digital age. Especially at the world’s most important event for the digital economy, it is important to realize how much access third parties have to our data – not only private data, but also corporate data – because two years after the disclosures of Edward Snowden, things have barely changed," Greenwald said with regard to his upcoming visit to Hannover.
"Right now, European governments should urgently consider which reactions their citizens and companies expect from them as well as how their security services can be more effectively supervised. I would like to give new momentum to this discussion with my speech at CeBIT in Hannover."
It was just over a year and a half ago that Greenwald published the first of the Edward Snowden documents in the British daily The Guardian. Prior to that, Greenwald had interviewed Snowden intensively over several days at a hotel in Hong Kong. His publications are among the most important and far-reaching political exposés of modern times. They show that the global intelligence community has gained wholesale access to almost all international data communications transmitted via the Internet and is able to mine this data in real time with the aid of specially developed software tools.
